why America is a powerful country in the world??
Enlightenment was the process of dissolving our convictions, which were supported by allegory and symbolism. As Freud put it, we know we should practice objectivity, but “in practice, we approach everything like a client” (HF, 2014). This essay does not focus on that process, but it gives some examples of a contemplative process you might be able to use to clear your head of your present self.
Some major questions that you need to ask yourself are what will happen to you in the present, what is happening to you right now? What are the real meanings of things? What is not reality? How am I going to find a way to move on from my current situation? How to be better?
Why, deep down, do you care how other people treat you?
How much do you know?
Be wary of prevarication: you may not know much, but others are sure you know so much. People who try to convince themselves they know more than they do must probably have a strong belief in the invincible power of their own voices.
You have a story, which is always changing. This may be a magical story that your parents told you, or it might be another parent. There is so much variety to these stories, and yet we’re stuck in our own versions of them. Some people can sit down and write their stories out, but others are stuck with whatever version of themselves they started out with. Having written multiple versions of themselves can leave them feeling impotent and unable to make any sense of their lives. Trying to write out your own story, like my brother and I used to do in our childhood, can help you heal from this impotence.
Beware of thinking just for the short term: this can lead to impatience and anger, and it may even lead to violence. You can’t think for the immediate future. Most of the battles you have in your life won’t end in a neat little paragraph. You might learn to transcend the present moment, but you may not become a superhero like Superman. Rather than spending all your time fighting, you can spend your time being a boy scout. You can serve and show love to the people you love. As a boy scout, you can look around the world and see that everything you love is still there. You can look at the world and see that what has happened, has happened. What happened to you, has happened. Change the events you feel you’re incapable of changing, and forgive yourself for the people you hurt and the things you say that hurt people. Continue to have faith in yourself: you’re strong and even stronger are the people you love.
